Gail Sanders VIEW PROFILE

Gail Sanders died peacefully in her home in West Point, GA at the age of 68. Gail was born on August 28, 1949, daughter of the late Charles Richard Sanders and Alice Elizabeth Oldham Sanders of Macon. She was a graduate of A. L. Miller High School 1967 and the University of Georgia 1971. Gail taught at West Point Elementary school in West Point, Georgia, Springwood School in Lanett, Alabama, and served information technology training and performance measurement roles at West Point Stevens in West Point and Synovus Financial in Columbus. She was a member and leader of St. John’s Episcopal Church in West Point and longtime volunteer for Literacy Volunteers of America. Gail enjoyed photography, music, and performing in the community theatre. Gail is survived by her mother, Mrs. Charles Richard Sanders Sr. “Betty” of Macon. Three siblings, Camille Sanders (Tom Powell) of Riverside, California, Charles Richard Sanders, Jr. of Perry, and Scott Edward Sanders of Athens. Two sons, John Davis Scott (Molly) of Atlanta, Richard Zachry Scott (Rebecca) of Auburn. Six grandchildren, Leighton Elizabeth Scott, Julia Catherine Scott, Elliott Rebecca Scott, William Henry Scott, IV, Wyn Glover Scott, and Mary Eleanor Scott. A brief service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in West Point on Sunday, October 8 at two o'clock EST followed by a celebration at the parish hall on site.
