Chuck Grace

Charles Grace Obituary

Charles Bartow Grace III
September 6, 2023
Jeffersonville, Georgia - A few days ago, you might have heard the heavenly cheers of the saints-which sounds a lot like the roar at the stadium after a Braves home run-as they welcomed their beloved brother, Charles Bartow Grace III, home. On September 6, 2023, Charles "Chuck" Grace, saw the gentle, smiling face of his Savior. At his heavenly arrival, Chuck surely said something witty and got his new friends laughing-as he will for all eternity.
If you had the honor of knowing Chuck, your life was flavored by his Southern humor and boisterous goodness, which always flowed from his deep love. Whether out on the golf course, driving his Polaris on his property, tracking a deer from a deer stand, or talking on the phone, Chuck Grace encouraged and lifted up everyone he met. He went by many names-Charles, Dad, Pop, Chuck, and Chuckie-but everywhere he went, he made life a little richer, brighter, and warmer because he was in it. Your life was always better because you'd been with Chuck.
Chuck attended Lanier High School and Georgia Southwestern State University where he got his degree in Business Administration. He met his wife, Marjorie, when he was thirteen at Cherokee Heights Methodist Church. And faithful as the sunrise, Chuck has loved Margie every day since. They were married on August 10, 1968, recently celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. Chuck Grace loved long.
The sound of the crack of a bat could often be heard at the Grace Plantation. Atlanta Braves baseball was the soundtrack of their lives. The umbrella of their love for the team extended even further when their grandson Cole became a member of the Braves' on-field advertising team. A faithful fan, Chuck never missed a chance to watch or listen to the Braves play.
Coaching baseball, playing golf, hunting, loving his family, riding around with his buddies, bragging on his grandkids, attending Mount Zion Baptist Church-all of it brought tremendous joy to Chuck. He faithfully worked in the equipment finance industry for most of his career and made more friends than money. If you made a business deal with Chuck Grace, it didn't feel like doing business; it felt like entering into a partnership with a friend. And you probably got a hunting or golfing invitation in the deal.
Chuck is survived by his wife, the ever-treasured Marjorie Myers Grace; his precious daughter and constantly loving advocate, Deanna Grace Schaefer; his best buddy and son-in-law, Gregory Schaefer; and the greatest trophies of his life, his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Grace Schaefer, PA-C, and Gregory Cole Schaefer. He served as a faithful mentor to his younger brother, Donald Ray Grace (Cyndi). Countless cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends have had their lives flavored by his tender heart and deep love. He is joining the following saints in heaven: his beloved son Nicholas Charles Grace; and his mother and father, Eloise Rozier Grace and Charles Bartow Grace, Jr.-all gone too soon. Chuck loved many and was loved by many.
Please pray for the multitude of us who are to learning to live the rest of our time here on earth without Chuck-without the comfort of his hugs, the sound of his laugher, the bright flavor of his humor, the Southern color of his Chuck-isms, the covering of his love. We will carry a Chuck-sized hole in our hearts until we see him again.
Chuck's services will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Snow's at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00–3:00 pm, and a service will begin at 3:00 pm with Reverend Dwayne Bedingfield officiating. A graveside masonic service will immediately follow. Chuck never met a stranger-all are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to National Ataxia Foundation (www.ataxia.org) in Charles Grace's name, in support of his beloved wife.
Snow's at Macon Memorial Park has charge of arrangements.
