Harold Lynn McManus Jr
6/30/1949 - 9/14/2016
Macon, Ga- Harold Lynn McManus, Jr. passed away Sept. 14th after complications from Parkinson's Disease. He leaves behind a brother Kermit McManus (Paula) of Cohutta, Ga., a sister Marcia McManus of Savannah, Ga., a nephew Kyle McManus of Hilton Head, and a niece Casey McManus of Savannah, and hundreds of loving friends around the world.
Harold graduated from Lanier Senior High School, Macon, and went on to Mercer University where he later transferred to Indiana University to expand his knowledge of music, more specifically the organ. His life revolved around his love of music and teaching math which took him to Houston, Tx. There he became the organist of River Oaks Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church. Harold was also a math teacher and musical accompanist, to name a few things, for the wonderful students at the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
After 25 years, he returned home to look after his father, Harold McManus, Sr. During this time he continued playing the organ at many churches including St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Macon; Mt.Zion - St. Luke Lutheran Church, Oglethorpe; Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Macon.
Harold traveled all over the world to play the organ in some of the most magnificent churches including the National Cathedral, Washington, D.C.; Mormon Tabernacle Church, Salt Lake City, UT; Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, France to name a few. He will be greatly missed for his talents, his friendship, his love for the Lord, and his wit.
Services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Macon, Ga.
Rosary and Visitation: Friday, 9-23-16, 6:30 pm
Funeral Mass and Visitation: 11 am Saturday, 9-24-16
Private burial to follow
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Music Ministry in memory of Harold Lynn McManus, Jr.
